The Clampbooster is an innovative end-of-arm tool (EOAT) designed to automatically control manual vices in robot applications, thereby increasing the degree of automation in CNC manufacturing processes.
Functionality & Purpose
The Clampbooster expands a robot cell with the ability to autonomously perform clamping and unclamping operations in a manual vice without the vice itself having to be pneumatically or hydraulically equipped. It serves as a mechanical ‘intermediate motor’ between the robot and the vice: the robot positions the component, the tool closes (clamps) the vice with a specified torque, and after machining, it opens the vice again. Integration into the robot arm (between the ISO flange and gripper on cobots or on the tool flange on industrial robots) means that no major conversion of the existing machine is necessary. Two dowel pins ensure that any torsional forces are eliminated and the robot arm remains mechanically unloaded.
